BOILERSOURCE RECIPIENT OF TECHNICAL AWARD FROM ASHRAE REDUCING ANNUAL OPERATING EXPENSES FOR 6 HOSPI

Boilersource is pleased to share we are part of the team to receive the ASHRAE Illinois Chapter 2017 Technical Award Celebrating Excellence in Engineering. We received the award along with Grumman/Butkus Associates and HeatSponge Economizers for the Boiler Plant Optimization for Six Hospital Sites of Advocate Healthcare.

Building Data: The project involved nine steam boilers at six Advocate Heath Care hospitals in Illinois: Christ Medical Center, Oak Lawn; Condell Medical Center, Libertyville; Good Samaritan Hospital Downers Grove; Good Shepherd Hospital, Barrington; Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Chicago; and BroMenn Medical Center, Normal.

Scope of Project: Steam boilers were retrofitted with boiler flue stack economizers, domestic hot water preheaters, and deaerator tank vent condensers. Plants at all campuses, except BroMenn, had previously been updated with high-efficiency boiler burners. Advocate received incentives from local utilities to support the retrofits. Reduction in annual operating costs is estimated at $184,000 and there is an estimated one time utility incentive of $290,531.
